This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair
Overview
Wheelchair access is via a platform lift at the rear of the building. Once inside, it's bog-standard Wetherspoons fare... cheap, cheerful and a little bit sticky. There's plenty room for manoeuvring a manual wheelchair and most tables have movable seating, although there are a few booths. Our drinks (lagers and a juice) were fine. To eat, we had a pizza (very good), the boneless chicken basket (excellent) and lasagne (a disappointingly tiny, microwaved, portion). It's well-known that Wetherspoons across the board have cut back on their food options... it was particularly noticed that all grill options (eg steak, gammon) were missing from the menu. All staff were cheerful enough and the local customers were friendly and helpful with moving bags and chairs to allow passage for me and my wheelchair.
Transport & Parking
There is nearby free parking, including designated disabled spaces, on the main roads and side streets, or you can use the large, adjacent, promenade car park which is chargeable, even for Blue Badge holders.
Access
Wheelchair access via an exterior platform lift is at the rear (promenade side) of the building. It was a bit temperamental but fine once we got going. One friendly passerby cheerfully told us "Oh, that thing never works!" and a staff member said that it often breaks down in winter, which didn't instil much confidence, but it seemed OK on this visit... just make sure that both gates are fully closed and to long-press the buttons.
Toilets
I didn't need to use the loos but, unusually for a Wetherspoons, it's all on the level. There is an accessible toilet by the back entrance.
Staff
Staff were all friendly enough, especially the young lady who helped us with the lift. We were served at the table by an obvious trainee who all but threw down our plates and ran away, followed by his supervisor who was much more chatty and engaging.
