Venue Description

The Poetry Café is both an independent vegetarian café and a buzzing performance venue, a quiet place to write and a spot-lit place to perform. The Poetry Society’s home in the heart of Covent Garden, London, The Poetry Café welcomes visitors, locals, tourists, poetry lovers and all those in search of a great cup of coffee or tea. Our venue is fully accessible. During the day we offer delicious light veggie lunches, home-made cakes and flapjacks, with a range of loose-leaf tea, gourmet Fairtrade coffees and artisanal soft drinks. At night, enlivened by our bar, the atmosphere bustles with the poetry readings, book launches, music gigs and other events which take place nearly every evening. Food is available in the evening too: show up hungry, and we’ll take care of you. The Poetry Society programmes its own events here, and we also host a glorious range of regular and special events from our partner promoters. Bring your novels, your notebooks and your friends: The Poetry Café is a place to create and connect, and we look forward to welcoming you. Opening Hours: Monday-Saturday from 11am till late

Accessibility

Our cafe is on the ground floor and venue/performance space in the basement. There is a very slight incline slope upon entering the cafe, but otherwise it is level with the pavement. The lift is user friendly and self-operable, and our staff are always happy to help. We have an accessible toilet inside of our venue.
