Overview

Small restaurant on the Perth Road with a great atmosphere and make very unusual burgers.

Transport & Parking

4

There is no car park for this restaurant however, there is a council car park a 5-minute walk away and on street parking close by. There are lots of bus stops up and down the Perth Road which most buses stop and there are taxi ranks nearby too. Train station is roughly a 15-minute walk away.

Access

3.5

There are 2 entrances into Tonic, one has 3 steps to go down and the other is classed as an accessible entrance. The accessible entrance though does have a slight step to get up, which is higher at one side than the other because Tonic is on a slight hill. Luckily, I had my portable ramps though, so I was able to get in using them, as my powerchair wouldn’t have gotten up it. Manual wheelchairs would manage if they got tipped slightly and powerchairs with kerb climbers, the step I would say was it was 3 inches at the highest end (see image below). Inside the restaurant it is quite crowded and there isn’t much space between the tables however, it easy enough to get to a side of each table. Some of the tables are higher up and not at wheelchair height, there are also a few tables up a couple of step. The tables that are on the level access were a little difficult for me to get under as my knees were hitting it, this might be easier for other wheelchair users to get under though (see image below). I was still able to reach my meal and drink though.

Toilets

0

There is no disabled toilet in this restaurant and the standard toilets are down a flight of stairs.

Staff

Every staff member that I interacted with was very friendly and the person I contacted about the accessibility on Facebook was very friendly. They remembered me contacting them when I arrived and helped me inside.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Although I really enjoyed my visit here and the food and cocktails were delicious, I don’t think I will visit that often as I won’t always have my ramps with me to access. I got dropped off by my dad, so he was able to just grab my ramps out of the car as he parked right outside.
