Overview

This branch of Wilko is fully step-free and a pleasure to visit, plenty of room for wheelchair users in the aisles, and a lift to the basement. Some issues with the lift- see below.

Transport & Parking

This branch of Wilko is part of the new Fulham Broadway underground station's shopping centre, and this station is fully step-free from street to train. Check before you travel to ensure that the station lifts are working. Several bus routes also serve the immediate area.

Access

If you're a wheelchair user or have mobility issues, ignore the entrance in the street, which has a large step: instead, enter the station building and turn sharp right for a step-free entrance into the shop. The shop is spacious and easy for a wheelchair user to navigate around. There is a good modern platform lift to the large basement area of the shop. It's annoying to use, because every time you want to use it, a member of staff has to be summoned to unlock the lift with a key. Why? Why put up this pointless obstacle? Two stars lost for this!

Toilets

I didn't find any toilets. I don't think this is the sort of shop where you would expect to find toilets.

Staff

Five stars and top marks for all the staff I spoke to - friendly, helpful and patient. A pleasure to interact with them. Only two stars for the managers who have decided to implement the bizarre and unusual policy of locking the lift when it's not in use.

If the absurd policy of forcing people to summon a member of staff to unlock the lift can be abandoned, then this will become a straight five-star review, as apart from the lift issues it was a pleasure to shop at this branch. You can buy a DIY make-your-own-teddy kit at this branch! Of course I bought myself one immediately.
