Venue Description

Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and offers an extraordinarily rich and varied day out. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 39 monarchs. Throughout its history, the Castle has been redecorated, enlarged and rebuilt. Today the Castle is used regularly for ceremonial and State occasions by HM The King.

Accessibility

Windsor Castle is accessible and we welcome visitors with different access requirements. All visitors should be aware that the Castle is situated at the top of a steep hill and there are long distances that have to be covered on site. Toilets

Accessible lavatories are located after the security search and on the North Terrace and are locked with a RADAR key. Please ask a warden to unlock them if you do not have your own key. The Changing Places is in Engine Court.

Staff

Some staff have basic BSL and a number of Wardens are Dementia Friends.

Assistance dog facilities

Assistance dog exercise facilities

Assistance dogs can exercise on the Long Walk, a 5-10 minute walk from the Castle exit.

Other assistance dog facilities

All registered assistance dogs are welcome, wearing their designated jacket or lead slip. Non-registered dogs, and emotional support animals, are admitted at the discretion of staff on a case-by-case basis. Due to conservation concerns these animals cannot be guaranteed entry. Staff reserve the right to ask visitors to remove their animal if it is deemed not to be behaving appropriately. Arrangements will then be made for the visitor to return without their animal.
