Overview

The Wireless Festival held in the Olympic Park has been my number one choice of day-festival for the past four years. The festival is spread across the Olympic park which makes for a really spacious and stress-free venue. At the main stage, there is a special wheelchair-user viewing platform which offers a great view of the main stage, without having to battle with the crowds! At the other stages, there are also designated areas for wheelchair users to enjoy the music from. I always have an amazing time every year I go, without any hassles!

Transport & Parking

4

Transport to and from the festival is via Stratford International Station. You can travel via bus, overground, underground, car or taxi. As with most festivals, getting a taxi after the festival has finished can often involve a long wait, with many festival goers queuing for a taxi home. if you pre-book your cab, you can avoid the queues!

Access

5

AMAZING! The surfaces are all flat and the venue is all out in the open. Although there are a lot of people at the festival, it does not feel crowded or overwhelming because of the vast surroundings. Most bars and food-stalls are accessible and each stage has a designated viewing platform for wheelchair users.

Toilets

5

These are dotted around the festival and opened by a member of the staff so that non-disabled people do not use them. They are of a good size and are sign-posted throughout the venue so you don't get caught short! This was my number one worry when thinking about attending a festival, however at Wireless there are no problems. If you are sitting in the wheelchair designated areas by the stages, you have access to your own accessible toilets which are close by and are not available for general public use.

Staff

Staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. There are lots of staff member dotted around the venue, and they are very approachable and willing to help.

It's worth remembering that Wireless moves around London every few years. For the last two, it has taken place in Crystal Palace Park in SE London. The site is on quite a steep hill, and there have been complaints about wheelchair access.
