Venue Description

Brighton &Hove buses operate services and carry residents and visitors from Brighton through to Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells and Steyning as well as Crawly, Gatwick, Redhill and Horsham. We have a fleet of over 410 buses between the 2 brands and 6 coaches. We have been in the public transport business since running horse buses in the 1880s and we now have one of the most modern fleets of state-of-the-art vehicles. In our drive to contribute towards a cleaner environment, our entire bus fleet runs on biodiesel. Brighton Buses was one of the first in the industry to use low sulphur fuel as soon as it became available and is also a market leader in the fitment of specialist equipment to reduce pollution of exhaust gases from bus engines. All our modern vehicles have particulate traps fitted on their exhausts. Brighton Buses run the Helping Hand scheme which is designed to help bus drivers help customers, more information can be found here: http://buses.co.uk/page.aspx?pageid=461

Accessibility

Wheelchair users are very welcome on board all of our buses and we are very pleased to now be able to accept some class 2 scooters. We can arrange to visit you to establish whether or not your class 2 scooter can be used on our services. Once the scooter has been inspected a card will be provided for you to confirm that it is able to access our services. If a wheelchair user is unable to board their bus a free accessible taxi is provided. buses.co.uk/taxi In order to ensure our services are accessible for all the Helping Hand scheme allows passengers to discretely and directly advise the driver of any assistance they may require. The card is free and partners include East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and Brighton and Hove Council as well as Lemon Buses, Stagecoach South, Compass, Southdown, City cabs and Streamline.
