Excellent
A thoughtfully designed interior suitable for a powerchair user with personal needs. The 'cottage' was ramped to gain access but level throughout, also decorated nicely. The garden was accessible with a bench table and seating, a pond and fountain to add interest and sound. While sitting outside we were visited by a lovely cat and family of chickens. We had friends join us and found the kettle couldn't be filled at the same time as the shower was running, which was quirky but not an issue. Our hosts were delightful, chatted over tea in the garden and helped with things I had forgotten or hadn't thought of. I am planning a return visit.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
Wheelchair accessible with a hoist over the bed and toilet. Two single beds, one with rails one without, both with memory foam mattresses. Accessible shower with a waterproof glider commode type wheelchair. Height of bathroom sink and kitchen surfaces electronically controlled. Comfortable bed settee for guests/ extra people. Breakfast table and four standard chairs and high backed chair with arm rests but quite low and not a riser type. There is also a large screen TV and internet access. Ample room for the powerchair to get around without bumping into things.
Parking & Transport
Excellent
We use a wheelchair adapted vehicle. Parking was provided in front of the accommodation with amble space to work around the vehicle and additional space for guest vehicles.
Accessible Toilets
Excellent
The toilet and shower room are combined. The toilet has a hoist over and bars on either side. The toilet is higher than average which made the personal toilet riser we had taken unnecessary.
Staff
Excellent
This is self catering accommodation without staff. Our hosts were however on hand should we have needed anything.
Additional Information
Sainsburys delivered the shopping and our hosts put it in the kitchen as we were late arriving. One night we had a chinese takeaway delivered which was very nice. The local pub put a ramp out for us and we ate in their restaurant, which was reasonable and tasty. We had a cream tea on the village green overlooking the river. The local town of Lostwithiel had a couple of accessible eateries. It was a great base for other acc attractions
