Both the bus and train station are located around a 10-minute walk from the museum. Bus Station: The most direct route to the museum from the bus station is walking down Guildhall Street and St Margaret Street. The route to the museum with the gentlest incline is turning right along High Street, then left to Kirkgate and then walking along St Catherine’s Wynd and Monastery Street. Train Station: The closest train station to the museum is Dunfermline Town. The route to the museum with the gentlest incline is along Comely Bank and Priory Lane. This route is not accessible for wheelchairs as there are wide, sloping steps leading to Comely Bank from the station.
There is a long-stay Pay & Display car park (run by Fife Council) next to the museum. The car park has 38 spaces, two of which are designated Blue Badge holders’ bays. The Blue Badge bays are located directly opposite the birthplace cottage - the only level access entrance point (approx. 10 metres away). The surface from the car park to the entrance of the museum is paved and slightly inclined.
