Overview

Motorway Services on M74 near Johnstone Bridge just north of Lockerbie at junction 16. Was a busy Friday afternoon on our visit so our review is based on that. Had coffee and a sandwich at Costa coffee which was nice, the disabled toilets are not great.

Transport & Parking

Parked close to the door but the flow of traffic came past the ramp on our disabled access vehicle we had to be really careful getting my wife and her chair in and out of the car. Car park could have a safer design.

Access

Access to the services was good.

Toilets

Only 1 disabled toilet on site which was just big enough to get the chair in to it. The toilet was not the cleanest which as it is the only one is understandable. The worst thing was the previous occupant was a young lady in her twenties who strode out after keeping my wife waiting 5 minutes. A lot of able bodied people think they have this right. I used the gents toilet which must have 20 urinals and cubicals and was much cleaner than the 1 small disabled toilet.

Staff

Only connection with the staff was at the coffee shop which I thought was slow but making coffee seems to be like that nowadays.

The services is in a good location in the Scottish Borders but I will probably drive onto to Gretna or Southwaite on our next journey down the M74.
