Overview

Ardhowen Theatre is a theatre in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It was opened in 1986 and is run by Fermanagh District Council. But it has been updated to enable people with access difficulties to attend their events. the The theatre offers a year-round programme of professional drama, classical music, opera, ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, blues, variety, comedy, country music, puppets, mime, children's events, traditional Irish music and dance, ethnic arts and lectures.

Transport & Parking

The car park only has 2 spaces for blue badge owners so I would advise to go early if you would like to make use of these. However there is a drop off point at the front door to make the venue more accessible. It is asked that you contacted the box office in advance of using this facility.

Access

There are two paths from the car park to the main entrance, on is flat and level and the other has steeps with one hand rail. The main doors are wide enough for wheelchair access and have automatic door pads at a low level, The box office is also low enough for wheelchair users and has a built in hearing loop system. The Auditorium can be accessed on a ramped walkway which had handrails on both sides and it wide enough for wheelchairs. There are only three spaces in the Auditorium for wheelchairs and if there are seats available a companion can seat behind the wheelchair user. The restaurant and bar are on the same level as the box office and staff are happy to move any furniture if they are in the way. There are only stairs available to the upper foyer but they have handrails on both sides.

Toilets

There is an accessible toilet along the walkway between the auditorium and restaurant. It was clean and tidy and had enough for a carer or to maneuver walking aids or wheelchairs. There is also an emergency alarm button beside the toilet.

Staff

Staff are very accommodating and do their best to ensure you have a great experience. They were very friendly and approachable.

I would recommend to visit this theatre as long as you are prepared to go early to ensure a blue badge parking space.
