Overall Rating
Excellent
Absolutely brilliant and would recommend. We turned up early and the volunteers were already there. They walked us round to the bunker where we transferred into the beach accessible chair. From there we were left to go explore the sandy beach. (Blankets are available to borrow) I would recommend this to anyone as my grandma says ‘I haven’t felt the sand in between my toes in years and I never thought I could again’ To add to all of this - completely free!! They accept donations but nothing is expected. They have both a stand-aid and hoist available in the bunker - all info is on their website and very clear.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
Flat pavement from the car park to the bunker where they keep the beach accessible wheelchairs. The bunker is in-between the car park and the beach, public benches along this route When I phoned I explained the disabilities of family members and all was considered and they helped us pick the right chair for our needs
Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance, Seating at regular intervals
Parking & Transport
Good
I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
Car park was quite small(3 disability spots) however as it’s a public beach there is various further parking
Accessible facilities: Drop-off or pick up point, Public or on street parking
Accessible Toilets
Average
Generic public beach toilets
Facilities: Accessible toilet
Staff
Excellent
Absolutely so friendly. We only booked the wheelchair for my grandma but the volunteer noticed my grandad would benefit from the 4-wheeled walker(normally uses a stick) and let us take that as well - we barely would have made it to the beach if he didn’t notice
Additional Information
It was a brilliant afternoon out and we are smiling about the experience even days after and will be a treasured memory for us
