Barry Links is a rather wee railway station in Angus, Scotland, near the village of Barry and not far from Carnoustie. This station wasn't on my list of places to visit but I happened to spot it as I travelled along the cycle route from Monifieth to Carnoustie. My research after my visit tells me that Barry Links is one of the least used stations in the UK. What I found most interesting is that only one of the two platforms was accessible to wheelchair users when there's clearly an easy opportunity to make both accessible.

There are two platforms at the station. Platform 2 is accessed via the road near the level crossing by a short ramp that shouldn't pose much issue for most wheelchair users but platform 1 can only be accessed by the steps and walkway between the two platforms or the connecting stairway to the rear. The steps have yellow markings at each level change and rails on either side. Each platform has a small rain shelter and a wooden bench but there are no ticket machines, only smartcard readers. Overhead displays are clear and there's an LED departure screen on either platform. I saw no signage to highlight the presence of a hearing loop. I find it interesting that only one platform is accessible as it seems there's clearly space to the side of platform 1 for a ramp to be installed under the bridge. I wonder if this hasn't been done because the station doesn't receive many train services but it seems like a straightforward improvement.

Other than being located on a cycle path the transport links aren't great. There is no local bus service, car park, or drop off zones.
