We had been set to make the crossing to Berneray the day before my actual visit but due to an issue with the ferry, we instead made the crossing to Uist on the Glen Sannox - which is quite the ship! As there were no crossings, this review will focus on the waiting area and general accessibility at the terminal

    Disabled Access In and Around

A short ramp leads up to the entrance to the terminal building, with an outward-opening door at the top. Signage on the door advises that it is automatically locked between 21:00 and 06:00. The waiting area has a long wooden bench that runs along the wall. The lighting level was low when I visited but this will change depending on the season. There are no alternative formats in use.

Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance, Seating at regular intervals

    Parking & Transport

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

This are unmarked parking spaces at the terminal, with room for around five cars, though I didn't spot a specific accessible parking space. There are three loading lanes for ferry traffic. A bus stop can be found just outside of the terminal building/waiting area.

    Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking

    Accessible Toilets

To access the toilet, you must take a turn to your left. A low wall separates the corridor to the accessible toilet from the entryway. The door to the accessible toilet opens outwards and does not require a RADAR key. The toilet is small, though I expect a powerchair user could still get in and be able to turn. Scooter users may struggle. The toilet pan is on the rear wall and has space for a left-side transfer. It has a soft backrest with rails on either side, but neither the white rails nor the seat contrast well against the off-white walls. The transfer space was clear but there is no red emergency cord. The sink has a small basin and lever-style mixer tap. A hand dryer and large mirror can be found near the door. If the cord was replaced, contrasting features and a colostomy shelf added, I would have rated this section higher.
