Overall Rating
Good
Lovely wee local museum with lots of local interest ranging from the stone age to the turn of the sanctuary, There is disabled parking in the public car park next door There are model shops inside with physical objects from the areas you can go in and touch and look at. Every shop has a threshold and some of the doors are too narrow for a wheelchair. However, the may museum is level access throughout There are some interactive displays and things for children. Good accessible toilet with right-side transfer toilet (transfer space obstructed by a bin), sink with lever-style tap, soap dispenser and hand dryer. There was lots of space for doughnuts, The sink had grabrails on both sides and the toilet had fold down grab rail and horizontal grab rail. There was no Red Cord Card so I added one. This toilet was not well sign posted from the atrium and I needed help to open the heavy doors, but once inside its a good toilet.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
The museum is level access however the shop exhibit has steps into each shop and all the doorways are too narrow for a manual wheelchair
Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance
Parking & Transport
Good
I travelled to this place by walk or wheel
Museum parking outside front door, with cross hatches. There is also disabled parking in the public car park next door. The bus stop is <25m away
Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking, Public or on street parking
Accessible Toilets
Good
it was not well signposted from main museum, and the doors are not automatic. Is large enough to do a restrained doughnut. Door has grab rail and lever lock on the inside and opens outwards grab rails. The toilet had fold down grab rails and there were grab rails on both sides of the sink. All contrast blue. The toilet flush is a lever handle and the red cord is hanging to the ground. The sink is low and able to be rolled under; the mirror is at the correct height. The lights come on when you enter. There is a hair dryer but no hand towels. Bins are in the transfer space, which is on the right hand side of the toilet. The red cord is hanging freely and reaches to the floor. There was no red cord card so I added one.
Facilities: Accessible toilet

Thank you very much for visiting us and taking the time to leave a review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit to the Museum. We do acknowledge we have places that we could improve and feedback like yours is invaluable to the process of improving visitor experience for all. And a huge thank you for leaving the Red Cord Card in the accessible toilet, it is great to bring awareness to others who may not yet know of the importance. Another simple change we will make, is moving the location of the bin to provide better access. Molly, Museum Co-ordinator
