Overall Rating

Good

Large hotel with golf couse/tennis court, gardens etc. We used it for lunch - excellent food, not overpriced, particularly given the setting, wonderful gardens and sunny terrace/conservatory to sit in. Particularly good expresso! For wheelchair access comments see below.

Disabled Access In and Around

Good

The main entrance to reception has a double door which can be opened up. There is a slight sill to get over but wasn't a problem. Reception is accessible. We couldn't access the main restaurant which was down a few stairs, but most people were having lunch in the bar, the adjacent conservatory or the terrace outside. Bar and conservatory were accessible with just a slight sill. Terrace wasn't. Wonderful views over the garden from the conservatory.

Parking & Transport

Excellent

This is a 4 star hotel just outside Mawnan Smith, not far from Port Navas. Website with pictures - www.budockvean.co.uk We arrived by car - can't comment on public transport. Large car park, smooth surface. You can park by the entrance to allow disabled passengers ease of entrance and then move the car to the car park a short distance away.

Accessible Toilets

Excellent

Disabled loo was accessible - near the reception not far from the bar area. Very clean - nice soap! Slight sill on doorway. Room wasn't huge but big enough to cope with wheelchair and carer. All the usual griprails. Red cord available.

Staff

Excellent

Bar/restaurant staff were very helpful - moved tables to accommodate us, very pleasant and friendly.

Additional Information

The food - our main reason for going there! - was very good. Light lunch dishes were mainly less than £10 with main courses between £12 and £20 (May 2019). It is a beautiful setting. As you'd expect for a hotel with a golf course, mid-week in May, most guests were "mature", but they were also hosting a children's birthday party. We'd definitely go back again for lunch.
