Overview

Accessible in all areas, interesting, a wildlife haven that is made for both the able bodied and the not able bodied. Not only did we see over 200 wild kites being fed, we saw sparrows, siskins, goldfinches and many other small birds feeding, beautiful flora and forna. The lake had damsel flies in abundance and fish were even jumping. It was a true paradise.

Transport & Parking

Very good disabled parking that was free. Enough room for us to get my wheelchair out.

Access

5

Every area was disabled accessible. Even the bird hide and it was low enough to see out of if sitting. The gravel path was good enough to not get my wheels caught up and my husband (who has heart disease) could manage to push me up the hills as they were not overly steep. The is side cafe and shop both had easily accessible facilities. Nothing was at fault

Toilets

Toilet was clean, accessible and also had a shower facility.

Staff

The staff were well informed, polite, helpful and friendly. What more can you ask for??? Especially as there is no entrance fee.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This was a real gem of an experience. We arrived at 12 midday knowing they feed the kites at 3pm in the summer and 2pm in the winter. We sat at the picnic tables at the reception centre and ate our lunch. There was a restaurant and I did see it offered gluten free food. We had bought our own as we generally do! We then went around the lake. It was a beautiful area. We took our time and my husband often sat and we enjoyed watching the wildlife. It did get busier around 2pm and by 3pm there was a crowd to watch the feeding. The kites were calling then watching then being fed was beautiful.
