Castle Gate has 72 parking spaces, which are a combination of standard and accessible parking spaces and 4 EV charging bays. At the entrance to the car park, there is a B&M homeware store (which sells snacks) and a small café, both accesible via a ramp or steps. As with many EV charging facilities, there are challenges, which I'll go into more detail on soon.

    Poor

The car park is tarmacked up to the chargers, with thick rubber mesh matting beyond that. There are a few potholes thanks to the sheer volume of cars, vans and campers, but I have definitely seen worse in my time. The EV facilities could be better. There are two terminals with two charging points on each, all of which are Type 2, 7 kW chargers – cables are not provided. The sockets sit on each side of the machine, which is mounted on a plinth. This raises the charging terminal and makes the sockets difficult to reach for some users. Hatched markings are placed between bays 1 and 2 and between bays 3 and 4. They are not especially big, so they do very little to create the space you need for a door to open fully.

Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance

    Good

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

Since the venue is a car park, the parking itself is pretty good. There are plenty of standard bays and accessible spaces, plus room for campervans at the far end. The nearest bus stop is about 320 metres from the car park on Castlegate. Berwick upon Tweed Railway Station is roughly 640 metres away.

Accessible facilities: Electric Vehicle Charging, Dedicated on-site parking

    Accessible Toilets

There are no toilets at this venue.

    Staff

    This venue is not staffed.
