Cedar Café is a diner just off the A1. It's ideal for a quick bite or a break from a long drive, but accessibility isn't the best. I pulled in to break up the drive, and as I felt able that afternoon, I used my walking stick rather than my wheelchair. I'm glad I did, as navigating the car park and venue in my wheelchair would have been a struggle.

As mentioned, the "accessible entrance" is difficult to find. I use quotes as the ramp near the accessible parking area is not fit for purpose. It doesn't have a rail, seems patched together and, depending on how cars park, could be difficult to access. If someone parks near the foot of the ramp, you're just not getting down. The door at this entrance is manual and opens inwards. I don't recall seeing a bell to notify staff. The front entrance has a large step and two heavy glass and metal doors. The way to the café area is along a narrow corridor. There is plenty of space once inside, and loads of seats. There are no alternative formats in use.

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
The only way to get to this location is by driving, as there are no bus stops or train stations nearby. The car park mostly consists of loose gravel. An accessible parking space can be found to the right of the building, but as the signage is also on that side, it is hard to notice if you drive into the main entrance. There are no marked bays here, which presents a real risk of disabled drivers or passengers being blocked in by others. There are no EV charging facilities.

I'm rating this section as bad as there is no accessible toilet, but the toilet space they do have could quite easily have been made into one. I went to the men's toilets to check for access. There is a large urinal area and a toilet in a cubicle, which could be accessible if the toilet pan wasn't raised up on tiles. As it stands, the closest "accessible toilet" is Grantshouse Public Toilets. These are located along a dirt path and are entirely absent of luxury, with a diagonal grab rail, no emergency cord and a seatless toilet pan!

The staff were polite and helpful.
Additional Information
I opted for a roll and sausage and some chips, which were fine. Nothing special, but it did fill a hole.
