Overall Rating
Good
In all my travels, I'd never enountered a Changing Places toilet with accessible parking spaces right at the door, until now. The facility is perfectly suitable and has many of the feautures you might expect but parking really sets it apart.

As mentioned, it's genuinely unusual to find a Changing Places toilet with parking this close. There are two accessible parking spaces at the door, with a dropped kerb between the spaces. It's worth noting that the leftmost bay has hatched markings to the right, but not the left. The rightmost bay has marking s on either side. There are several additional standard parking spaces nearby. There is a short incline, with tactile markings leading up to the toilet. The closest bus stop is 160 metres away on Hide Hill. They pavements are in good condition, but be aware the route to Woolmarket Steet is up a rather challenging hill. An alternative stop is 320 metres away on Marygate, which is more of a trek but mostly downhill. The closest train station is Berwick-Upon-Tweed station, just over half a mile away.
Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking
Accessible Toilets
Good
A Radar key is required to access the facility, and the door opens outwards. The toilet is spacious, with plenty of room to move around. The room has lino flooring - but no shower, which is a shame. As you enter, you’ll find the toilet seat on your right. It has a soft backrest, contrasting adjustable rails, and blue contrasting rails on the wall. To your right, when seated, there’s a red cord, and to your left is a colostomy shelf. Unfortunately, the shelf is being used to store rolls of toilet paper, which is a bit disappointing. The facility includes a ceiling track hoist, an adjustable changing bed, and an adjustable sink, although the sink requires two people to use. To the left of the sink there’s a hand dryer, with soap and paper towels to the right. There’s space for a left-side transfer, and a right-side transfer might be possible if the adjustable rails are moved up and out of the way. The toilet is relatively clean for a public facility, and there’s a privacy screen. There’s also a red cord at the door, and in both instances the cords were hanging freely. The only alternative format available is Braille markings on the reset button, for those who may accidentally trigger the alarm. This CPT is a welcome facility for those exploring this walled Town.
