Overview
This was a really beautiful park that had lots to see in it. There was a stunning bandstand in the centre of the park where there was lots of seating too. Near the bandstand was a kiosk called Nothing Fancy which had food and drinks. Towards the back of the park there was a children's play area and a sit-down café with indoor and outdoor seating. There were many different entrances to the park which led to the surrounding roads. They were all flat from what I could see and none had steps to navigate. Some did have steep inclines to manage though. My favourite part about this park was when I suddenly noticed I was surrounded by loads of bunnies! As I was rolling down one of the paths I suddenly spotted some bunnies and as I looked around I noticed there were loads of them! They’d all come out for a spot of dinner, it seemed. I spent a lot longer than I should have just gleefully taking pictures of bunnies and admiring their cuteness! I really loved this park. I spent quite a lot of time in here. It was a good spot for relaxing alone but there were also groups playing and doing sports. There were joggers, dog-walkers, families, lots of different groups enjoying the space. I went back a couple of times and it was really peaceful with space to sit in the sun or shade.
Transport & Parking
The park didn’t have any dedicated parking but there was some on-street parking around it. It was also very close to Chantry Place shopping centre which has a large car park.
Access
All the entrances to the park had step-free access from what I saw although some did have some steep inclines to manage. They all led out onto the surrounding roads. The pathways throughout the park were tarmac with some in better condition than others. I did have to navigate some that had bad potholes and were very uneven. But for the most part I was able to roll around the park fairly easily. There were loads of benches throughout the park and, of course, lots of green space to sit on too. I saw lots of dogs in the park so it’s clearly a good spot for dog-walking.
Toilets
There was a block of toilets in the park which included an accessible toilet but the block had been closed. The council’s webpage about the park also lets you know that the toilets here are currently closed too. The toilets inside Chantry Place shopping centre would be a good option close to the park.
