You’ll find these two EV charging bays just outside Vikingar!, which is a popular visitor attraction in Largs that brings the story of the Vikings and the historic Battle of Largs in 1263 to life with interactive exhibits and multimedia experiences. As I wheelchair user, I found the charging facilities lacking.

Navigation through the car park is straightforward. There are six additional accessible parking spaces near the building entrance, within a total of 130 spaces. There are no alternative formats in use. Please note that the car park is for visitors only.

There are two EV charging bays, both no bigger than a standard parking space. The charging unit is raised on a kerb and set well back, with no drop in the kerb and a narrow walkway, making it almost impossible for wheelchair users to access and likely difficult for anyone using other mobility aids. Charging options include 50kW CCS and 50kW CHAdeMO, both with cables provided, and 22kW Type 2 charging, for which you need to provide your own cable. The card reader is the same height as the cables, so I was unable to reach it from the bay.
