Overview

I booked a 6 hour private taxi tour of Corfu island with Dimitris Dafnis. I booked with him as he was the only taxi tour website for Corfu which mentioned disability. The tour was amazing and explored the less touristy sights on the island. We went to the beach, into the hills where we had wonderful views and visited lots of villages. In the one day I felt I had seen so much of the island and had learnt about the history, culture and local life. Highly recommend this tour.

Transport & Parking

This was a private taxi tour so I was collected and returned to my hotel.

Access

The taxi was a Mercedes sedan car and was extremely comfortable. The website says the cars can accommodate a manual wheelchair in the boot. The tour managed the right balance of seeing a lot but doing it at a comfortable pace. We stopped at various places to take photos or to get out of the car and admire the view. We stopped at a café with a terrace with a wonderful sea view where we had fresh bread, cheese and drinks. I think there was one or two steps into the café/ shop. We stopped at Achilleion, see separate review, so I could visit the house.

Toilets

There were toilet in the café we stopped in. These were regular toilets, very clean and the cubicles were small that I could use the door handle as a grab rail.

Staff

Dimitris was amazing. He was an excellent driver and tour guide, very knowledgeable and informative. He had lots of information to share about Corfu history, customs and traditions. He explained about daily life on the island and I felt I had a good insight into local life. He was extremely knowledgeable about the flowers and fauna and especially about olive trees are cultivated. We visited lots of hidden away villages and saw lots of things which would not have been possible on a coach tour. Dimitris is a photographer and he helped me get some wonderful photos from my trip. Dimitris informed me that he also had been on crutches at one time and this had made him think about developing tours for people with mobility disabilities. He was extremely thoughtful by sometimes popping out of the car himself to take a photo for me or stopping the car in the perfect position so I had a great view. I felt he really understood my access needs and made assisting me appear effortless.
