Having visited two of the three Costas in Berwick-upon-Tweed, I figured I'd complete the set one morning at the Margate branch. It offers the standard Costa experience, but with an extra-jazzy accessible toilet. Of the three, this is the closest to the town centre.

There are manual doors at the entrance, which have a bit of weight to them. Other customers helped me get into the café. Once inside, I had to go up a short, carpeted ramp. The ramp doesn't have rails, which The order counter is on the left, with seating and tables around the café. The accessible toilet is at the rear of the room.

There are accessible parking spaces uphill from Costa, but none immediately outside. Buses regularly run through the town centre.

The accessible toilet doesn't require a RADAR key and the door opens outwards. It locks from the inside by raising the handle. There is space for a right-side transfer to the toilet. A small bin sits in the transfer space, but it doesn't obstruct it. The pan has a contrasting seat, a soft backrest and contrasting rails on either side. The emergency cord is to the right when seated and, thankfully, wasn't tied up. However, it could be awkward to reach if you fall in any other direction. The flush is confusingly positioned high up to the right when seated. The sink has a large basin, a pressure-activated tap and rails on either side. There is a mirror above the sink, which is of little use to wheelchair users as it's far too high. A hand dryer is installed above an open bin, which feels like a brilliant way to heat up rubbish! The walls are super shiny, coated in grey and red plastic. A curious choice, to be sure.
