Back in the day this plot of land featured the cricket green for the Royal Selangor Club. It was the place they first raised the Malayan flag in 1957 and it's now the place used for national parades and events of political/historical significance in Kuala Lumpur and has a giant flag pole (apparently one of the biggest in the world) to prove it! You can pick your way around most of the square without having to negotiate steps - but particularly at the flag end there are raised and lowered bits to navigate.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
Generally good. You can get round the majority of the area without having to negotiate steps and there are dropped kerbs / ramps from the pavement. At both the flag and the fountain ends there are a couple of raised sections that make life a bit more interesting!
Parking & Transport
Good
We walked there from where we were staying nearby. There is the Masjid Jamek LRT Station nearby. It would be easy enough to get dropped off by taxi there too.
Accessible Toilets
0Didn't see one or even any signs to one - but in this area there are visitor attractions and places to eat, drink & shop.
Additional Information
This is one of the the 'sites to see' when visiting Kuala Lumpur - a little bit underwhelming but still worth a visit!
