Overview

Del Amo Fashion center is a huge and beautiful shopping mall with over 200 shops, loads of restaurants and a cinema. The mall is newly built with wheelchair users in mind.

Transport & Parking

Del amo fashion mall is located on Hawthorne Blvd. It has numerous car parks with ample amount of disabled parking at each car park. Most people drive to the mall, hence the 12,000 parking spaces, however several busses also stop at the mall. The car parks are large allowing easy parking access for those who travel in large size vehicles.

Access

Entrance to the mall via carparks consists of lifts and stairs. The entire mall has limited slopes and plenty of lifts for access to all three levels of the mall. To purchase the movie tickets, the ticket booth is high up and behind glass which may be difficult for staff to communicate and see a wheel chair user. However there are also electronic machines, located to the left, which all customers can access. The doors to the movie theatres pull out, so if a wheel chair user is alone the may need assistance. The theatre has spaces for service users to park their wheelchair. Next to the wheelchair space are reserved setting for two other people. The mall’s food court has multiply tables and chairs you can move around making it easy to make space for my friend’s wheelchair. We ate at Gengis Khan which is delicious Mongolian Barbeque food. The counter was a bit high, but my friend was able to manage seeing and ordering the food with no assistance.

Toilets

All toilets at the mall have at least one disabled toilet. However, the disabled toilets have no items/equipment. The only difference is, it has a larger stall.

Staff

All the staff were friendly. However, we did not need any extra assistance.

The mall is huge, making it easy to maneuver a wheelchair in the shops, restaurants and around the mall.
