Didsbury Library

Main entrance has slightly uneven stairs with rails. Level access entrance is round the side, involves a 1:6 slope. Doors are heavy and not very wide due to the age of the building (the library opened 110 years ago!), but staff will offer help. Floor generally level throughout with low profile carpet (although I haven't been in the children's section). Well lit with large windows in the ceiling. Quite a lot of echo due to high ceilings. Main desk has a lowered section and there are usually chairs at the desk for those that need to sit. Wheelchair accessible bathroom with low toilet and sink. grab rails, emergency pull cord, and good turning space. Key kept at reception, usually in a labeled box so visitors can take/return it without waiting. Heating seems to run on automatic through most of the year so the building gets very very warm in spring and autumn.
