Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is an inclusive resort with knowledgeable staff who are willing to help wherever and whenever possible. Riverside offers a reliable bus transportation service to the parks and Disney Springs, the buses are all equipped with electronic ramps enabling easy boarding for guests using wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
Riverside offer wheelchair accessible rooms and the resort has wide, smooth paths. The food court and main reception have electronic doors which are operated by pressing a button. There are many seats in the reception area where you can sit and have a rest. The alligator bayou pool has a pool lift so is accessible. The resort has many clear and concise signposts to help guests navigate around the resort. There are some areas in the resort however with steps, meaning that guests using wheelchairs do not have quick access to these locations and must alternatively take a longer route to get there.
Parking & Transport
Excellent
Riverside offer reliable bus transportation. The buses, equipped with electronic ramps, are spacious, air conditioned and have a priority area for guests using wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The bus drivers are happy to give priority boarding to disabled guests and allow disabled guests to board with their party, ensuring they do not feel isolated. Riverside offer disabled parking close to the resort; the parking spaces are wide offering extra room for easier maneuvering.
Accessible Toilets
0I did not see what the toilets/bathrooms are like in the wheelchair accessible rooms so I cannot comment.
Staff
Excellent
The staff at the resort are extremely friendly and helpful, they were able to answer questions about the parks, transport and food. The staff are inclusive, the bus drivers did not moan when operating the ramp but rather conversed with the guests using it to put them at ease. Riverside have plenty of staff, I was never short of people to ask questions to. All the staff are well trained, polite, considerate and passionate about helping in whatever way possible.
Additional Information
Riverside is a beautiful resort which I would happily visit again. Whilst there are a few steps in the resort, as a whole it is well thought out and the staff are happy to help resolve any queries/concerns.
