Overview

Garden centre that's a little bit more in that it has a lovely restaurant, all-too-tempting food hall, great gifts on selection, kids play area, plus knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Transport & Parking

We travelled by car so cannot comment on public transport. There are plenty of disabled spaces available. It's easily located just off the M8 motorway.

Access

4.5

Disabled access for my husband, who used a wheelchair, was fine although there were some dead ends in the aisles where we had to reverse out of so not completely ideal. The main aisles were nice and wide and there is plenty of room for people to walk side by side.

Toilets

Unfortunately, at the time we visited my husband didn't use the disabled toilet. The location of it was fine, there were grab rails and there would be plenty of room for a carer, if required, however there was toilet paper on the floor and the toilet itself was unusable in that the toilet seat was wet. We did speak to a member of staff who was very apologetic, apologising to both myself and my husband, and immediately went to rectify the situation. (We must add that this is a common problem with disabled toilets and that it wouldn't stop us visiting the store again.)

Staff

The young lady who we spoke to about the toilet was fantastic in that I drew her attention to it but, before going away to sort it out, she came over to my husband and apologised to him too. Not a lot of people "see" the person with the disability so that was appreciated.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I would note that in the café area, the section immediately next to the tills is carpeted so it may prove difficult for anyone who uses a walker, but the rest of the café area has a wooden floor. We enjoyed our lunch in the café, had a wander around the outside space and purchased a late Mother's Day gift as well as some nice cheese and pate from the food hall. We both agreed that we would go back again as it's very handy for when we visit the nearby hospital.
