Overview
was invited to a wedding at Dundas Castle at the beginning of May. It was a two day event. The first day was a casual/ Smart day before the actual service on Sunday. During the first day the guest got to mingle with each other and play games on the grounds such as archery, Caber tossing and hammer throwing. Also played croquet on the front lawn.Afterwards there nibbles, refreshments et cetera. There is also freshly made pizzas being served which were delicious. It was a lovely day to get to know everyone. Day 2 was the actual wedding service which was held in the courtyard, outside but shouted. After the service photos were being taken there were drinks and nibbles served in the house before we were invited to go to the marquee for the main reception. The food was delicious and the rest of the Night was filled with fun dancing and fireworks. I had a brilliant time and would recommend it to anyone who has the chance to go to a Dundas Castle event. I did not stay at the Castle on the Saturday night but believe there are accessible rooms in particular the peoni room which has a stand alone shower (see link a go t the end of the review to watch a visual tour of the room). There is also a link to a Visual tour of the house itself. Due to the historical nature of Dundas, we are limited by building regulations as to adaptations we can make. However, we have done what we can and have a helpful, friendly team who will always try as hard as possible to provide help and assistance where needed.
Transport & Parking
We travelled to the venue by Car. There was a disabled space in the car park of the venue and I have been told that if needed disabled parking spaces can be made. I would suggest for experience that guessing to the venue without too much difficulty can only be done by Car, taxi or private coach.
Access
The main house of the venue, the accessible by Eva two ramps into the main front door (see photo) oh by a single ramp at the back door.. There is A lift in the main house which can take you from the house to the pavilion marquee – with access via the car park. (it can also give you access to the rooms upstairs)
Toilets
There is a disabled toilet in the hall of the main house and also in the marquee.
Staff
The staff are very kind and attentive. There always seem to be someone around who could help you with whatever needs you have. When it came time to go from the main house to the pavilion for the reception a member of staff came to find us and to fit through the most accessible route from the House Mackie. When I arrived at the marquee to set up the table I found a place set for me that did not have awkward legs on the table that would get in the way and there is plenty of space around me so that I could manoeuvre easily into the space. Oh no very impressed
