Overview
The funicular railway was very good accessibility wise and very much worth doing as the view of the city and surrounding area is spectacular. The station has lifts taking you to different levels. Once at the top, it is well pathed with ramps to get you to the different viewing areas. It also has a cafe, gift shop and accessible toilet. It also has a kids play park but it is not very accessible.
Transport & Parking
There are public buses that stop nearby but the streets are quite steep. We were on an organised tour and our accessible mini bus took us directly to the door of the funicular railway.
Access
The doors to the station are automatic and it is ramped within and dropped kerbs in the surrounding area in the lead up to the station. The station itself, due to the nature of it being up the side of a mountain, is on different levels but there is a lift that takes you to the platform. There is a small gap between platform and train and they lay down a ramp so I was just able to wheel straight in. There are specific areas wheelchairs get on and off but if staff will direct you to the appropriate area. The train going up the mountain takes approx 7 minutes. Once at the top, the views of the city are spectacular and there is ramped areas to get to different viewing areas but it is a popular attraction and can be busy.
Toilets
Once at the top there is very good sized accessible toilets that have push button automatic doors.
Staff
The staff were excellent and got us on and off with minimal fuss.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Well worth a visit if in Bergen, which itself is a beautiful city. If on a cruise, I would recommend doing it as part of an organised accessible trip as they drop you off at the door. If coming independently it is up hill through the streets to get there, but still doable.
