    Good

I decided that rather than catching the train from Monifieth to Carnoustie, I would take the cycle path and cover the six miles with my power attachment. By the time I got to the end of the trail the rain was starting to fall. I found my way to the high street and went to the first place that offered shelter and hot food. Franco’s was that venue. I was spotted quickly by a member of staff who helped me with the doors and I sat down to a warm bowl of soup. Just what I needed.

Once I got past the manual door with the help of staff the venue was easy to navigate. Chairs were moved for me and I was quite comfortable. I received table service and was handed the card reader to make my payment. There are no alternative communication formats in use.

I travelled to this place by walk or wheel

I wheeled my way here but Carnoustie Railway Station is a short trek from the café and there are bus stops just outside on the high street. Parking is in short supply, although I did see some on street spaces, one of which is marked as an accessible parking space.

Accessible facilities: Public or on street parking

    Accessible Toilets

The accessible toilet is reasonably well equipped. The door to the loo opens outwards and does not need a RADAR key to access. The toilet pan has contrasting silver grabrails on either side. There is space for a left-side transfer and it is kept clear which is always appreciated. The sink has a single grabrail on the left hand side, a small basin and hot and cold lever style taps. A baby change is installed on the left wall as you enter. The loo does not have a red emergency cord, which is disappointing.
