    Excellent

This was my second visit to the Fries Museum and I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The museum is all about the history of the humble potato and how fries came to be. It then goes into more detail about how Belgian fries are cooked and about the different ways they are sold and eaten. When you arrive, you will be offered an audio guide. This can be set to English. As you go around the museum you tap the handset on numbers and then listen as you would with a phone.

    Disabled Access In and Around

    Good

The main doors are quite heavy. I was with my sister, so she opened them for me. The museum is on four floors (including the cafe in the basement). There is a small lift which was fine for me but you might struggle to get a large wheelchair in it. You start on the ground floor, where there is hanging for coats and shelving for if you want to leave other items. Then you start learning about the potato. Once you've completed the ground floor, you go up to the 2nd floor and then work your way back down. There is plenty of space to move around and I could easily see everything. There is one area with those photoboards with holes cut out so you can stick your head through and look like you're part of a scene. They aren't wheelchair accessible but most other activities are.

    Parking & Transport

I travelled to this place by walk or wheel

As with many of the central Bruges attractions, there is no parking on site or immediately outside. We were staying at Campground Bargeweg, just south of the city and we walked/wheeled in. It took about half an hour and much of it was on cobbles. I used a freewheel with my wheelchair, which really helped.

    Accessible Toilets

    Poor

There are accessible toilets on the 1st and 2nd floor, just by the lift. The toilets are okay. They have grab rails and they were clean to look at but there was a strong smell of urine. They double up as the baby change facility and I found it a bit tricky getting in because of the wooden unit for baby changing. There is an outer room with the baby change and then a separate room with toilet. Neither are very big. It's worth knowing that you can lock the outer door, so you can leave the inner door open. I wouldn't have been able to get my chair in and close the door. So the toilets aren't great, but I need to go frequently and don't get much warning, so I'm always grateful for having a toilet, even if it isn't the best.

The lady on reception was pleasant enough. I don't think we saw any other staff.
