Overview
We love Fyvie castle grounds. The actual castle is not accessible, but the grounds are lovely. Pretty all year round. The path around the lake is mostly good - can be a little muddy / tree rooty - but if you don’t mind a bit of a bumpy patch then it is good. Or stick to the road and just see one side of the lake - tarmac road.
Transport & Parking
There is plenty of parking, the sign for disabled parking sends your right outside the castle, but those spaces are on thick gravel so not easy to wheel through. We stick to the main car park, plenty of spaces. Public transport isn’t great in this area!
Access
The grounds are pretty accessible, the actual castle not good! The walled garden by the car park is lovely. Paths are good around the walled garden. There is a tearoom at the castle - take the road to the left to avoid the gravel! The tea room is a bit of a squeeze but there are tables outside, and on a sunny day it is lovely. ( cakes and soup are great!).
Toilets
Disabled toilet in walled garden - large toilet but not a changing place just regular toilet.
Staff
Always friendly to us, but not been on a tour of actual castle as it isn’t possible.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The grounds are beautiful all year round. Take some duck food and feed the swans and ducks too.
