A pleasant enough little village, but there’s not much here to see or do, but it does have its places of interest. At the time of the doomsday book, it was known as Missendene, the word “den” probably meant valley. But in more modern times, the town stood on the coach route between the midlands and London, where a few pubs offered rest areas for passengers, but once the coaches stopped running, after railways took over, the town went into a period of decline The connections with Midsomer Murders are few, but it was used in “Painted in blood” as Shires bank, in just one episode. A few cottages appeared in “Not in my backyard” The church of St Peter and St Paul appeared in “Masterclass” But this church is also where Roald Dahl is buried, and a museum dedicated to Roald Dahl is now the main attraction on High Street. OUR PHOTOS We quickly arrived in town, and pulled ahead at The Cross Keys inn (photo 1) and drove along High Street (photo 2) passing the attractive White Lion inn (photo 3) Before, fortunately, finding a parking spot just before the museum (photo 4) It did not appear to be inspiring (photo 5) but let’s hope it’s better inside. We could certainly hear the laughter of kids coming from out back, so maybe it’s an ok museum to visit (photo 6).

Once parked it’s on the level, with pavement not being to bad, and easy enough to get into museum.
Parking & Transport
Poor
Parking is difficult, it’s street parking only, and hard to find spots, but at least on this trip it’s just a matter of driving along High street. You will have to find a spot if you wish to visit Roald Dahl museum.
