Overview

Already a disabled friendly hotel, providing good food food overlooking well maintained gardens, the current "out of season" internal work includes improvements in accessibility.

Transport & Parking

Park in the disabled bays directly opposite the front door. Either phone for assistance or ask your companion to pop in to reception to request it. The current wheelchair ramp takes you to the less obvious Function room and Courtyard entrance which is ideal for wheelchair users.

Access

Movement throughout the original Grade II listed Manor House is good as there are no steps or trip hazards. Leaving the lounge to the dining room or function room is easy through the wide doorways.

Toilets

The disabled loo in the public areas is fine for ambulant and manual wheelchair users. It is not wide enough to rotate my powered wheelchair. As the disabled Courtyard bedroom 26 is on the same level, use of the toilet in your bathroom provides more room. In my large powered wheelchair rotating in the bathroom is not easy but I can walk a few steps.

Staff

Those we met were attentive and helpful. With the management's attitude of constant improvement, they were open to suggested improvements when my wife and I stayed there.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

External improvements will allow a wheelchair user to access the island over the new, very impressive footbridge onto a level decking area. Internally the large windows of the Sun room, overlooking the sun terrace and grounds, make breakfast , lunch nd afternoon tea areal pleasure. Room 26 is spacious with plenty of room for a wheelchair user. The bathroom has a walk in shower with grab handles and toilet with support rails. 2 more Courtyard bedrooms have level access and may be suitable for many disabled people.
