Excellent
For those of us who went to the original Henderson’s from the 60’s onwards, this was a blast from the past though with new exciting menu. One of Edinburgh’s original vegan and vegetarian restaurants, the new Henderson’s managed by members of the original family, haven’t disappointed. Access good, double doors at the entrance, the staff opened the door for us and were very welcoming.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
On entry, plenty floor space and seating. There were no alternative formats for menus. Their website was very informative and clear with a excellent, innovate selection of drinks and food. If your wanting a quick bite, then don’t be - everything is prepared and made to order, the plates we had were full and took a bit of eating !. What you can’t finish can go home with you too !
Parking & Transport
Excellent
Located on Barclay Terrace en route south through Tollcross, Henderson’s is amply served by public transport- north and southbound. Services stop a 100m from the restaurant numbers 10, 11, 15, 16, 23, 27, 36, 45 and 101 are regular. There is ample parking in parking bays, blue badge and paid parking. After 18.30 parking is available without being patrolled.
Accessible Toilets
Good
We were given a table within a short distance of the disabled facility which was also the baby changing area. It was small, but manageable with grab rails, clean tidy but no red cord. Not enough room for a carer and a chair.
Staff
Excellent
Fantastic welcome, very bright, cheerful and gave excellent description of drinks and certain foods on the menu. We were asked if we had had any dietary or allergy requirements.
Additional Information
Covid precautions were as with many restaurants optional. The choice of food, presentation, and taste was superb. The quantity on the plates was huge, so much so we took our unfinished food home with us. Would certainly go back again, will try their restaurant in the evening as a contrast.
