This is a fascinating venue, not only for the cathedral itself, but also the Mappa Mundi and the chained books. Everywhere seemed very accesable in a wheelchair. What made the Catheral special was a problem I had in it! My electric wheelchair decided to stop working right in the centre of the Catheral. A very heavy NHS chair just packed up, and I was 100 miles from home. The volunteers could not have been better. Without asking, one saw we had a problem and came over to help, two more joined him. One went with my wife to get our car from the carpark and used his security code to get it into the staff car parking area nearby. Another pushed my chair to an exit by where my car was coming and the third helped me walk (very slowly) to meet up with my car and wife. We didn't need to ask for help, it was just there, when we needed it most. An example of good people doing good.
