Overview

Excellent venue, beautifully furnished, comfortable seating, varied menu of help yourself buffet, or waitress service. (Photo 1). Relaxing pre-dinner drink in “The Orangery. Lovely light airy room, very nicely furnished, lift available right next to steps to get you down to floor level. (Photos 2 / 3). Spacious entry into the smart looking Market Kitchen restaurant. (Photos 4, 5 and 6). Our first course quickly arrived after ordering, both us us choosing a Prawn cocktail. WINE ====== White, Greyrock, Sauvignon Blanc, From New Zealand. Sweet citrus, grassy notes. The appearance was rather thin, with green hues and a light lemon colour. Taste was mouth drying, maybe gooseberry hints, and light bodied. Finish lingered, leaving a nice taste in mouth. A pleasant little wine. 6.5 marks from 10. (Photos 7,8 and 9). A wonderful selection of hot meats and tasty dishes provided on the roast counter, where you may help yourself as many times as you wish, but it’s filling. WINE ====== Red, Maisonette Bosquet, Merlot, from France. Aroma had a hint of liquorice , it was spicy, with dark fruit notes. Appearance of a dark blackberry, thick nice looking good body. The taste was slightly peppery, so it was warming, musky dark berries, and a pleasant Full bodied wine. The finish though was short but fruity. “7” marks out of ten, you may find this worth trying. (Photos 10 / 11) a very tasty and filling oriental selection will be very tempting. (Photo 12). Waitress service provided a fair selection on the menu, my wife choose a Light Chicken with sweet potato fries. (Photo 13). Desert selection was a little refined, but the home made salted caramel, and a red berry ice cream ended the meal delightfully. ================================ It was now time to go and relax at one of the two show rooms available tonight. (Photos 14,15 and16). We settled in the Late lounge, ready for the eight o,clock start, There are steps needed to climb if you want to enter the showroom, but we sat comfortably by the bar, where it was less noisy and so, more comfortable. (Photo 17). The steps are handy and just off the bar, where staff will willingly bring your drinks order to you. (Photos 18, 19, and 20). The resident band and group provided enough entertainment tonight, although, if you are in a wheelchair, you will have to face the embarrassment of being pushed right in front of the act as you then reach the ramps to lead you to a chair. Not at all inviting, rather a poor effort in supporting disabled. The group themselves were quite good though, and we enjoyed an hour with them by sitting out on the bar area.

Transport & Parking

2.5

The car parks are to far away from the hotels entrance, and although the South Wing car park being on the level, it is a long push for your carer, and you will all get soaked if it’s raining. There are not that many disabled bays to find, and they are always full of cars before you get to them, so the disabled will have to be prepared to walk miles to get to the hotel entrance. Disappointing, and marks have been taken off the hotel for this lack of support for the cripples or disabled who cannot walk, and need the hotels support.

Access

both the South wing, and the North wing car parking for disabled is to far from the hotels entrance, the paths are level enough, and easy to push along, if you have a carer, or you are strong in the arms. Ramps are there, and it’s easy enough to get around the interior areas once inside hotel.

Toilets

Did not use toilets. Only those in our rooms

Staff

4.5

We found all the staff very helpful and willing. We want to mention the reception team, as all the staff here were so kind and supported us so well. Very good service by the young waitress in the restaurant for us.
