Overview
We stopped in this eco-cafe for a quick visit on a rainy Scottish summer afternoon. Despite the rain, the cafe felt light, bright and cheerful inside; I had a good laugh at the muzak, that cheered me up too. My mum told me that people (someone my dad worked with) used to do a weird dance sitting on the floor to 'Oops Upside Your Head', so that was really funny to imagine! The song was bizarre but hilarious! I had a lovely time; I've been here before and the food and juices were delicious; there were vegan options too and there's a lovely gift shop with local cards and gifts etc. plus lots of delicatessen-type teas, coffees and treats available to buy as well. There's also an undercover outdoor seating area overlooking the Cromarty Firth and the Black Isle; it's a beautiful spot and well worth a visit, even in the rain staff were lovely, smiley and helpful. There is also a children's play area to the side of the cafe and an ice cream kiosk...
Transport & Parking
We drove here and parked onsite in the disabled spot at the entrance. I could only see one designated disabled parking spot but there were an additional few tarmacked spaces at the entrance, however, this is a popular cafe and disabled parking might be more difficult at a busier time. There are lots of non-disabled parking spaces but the terrain is hilly and gravelly for people with walking difficulties and some wheelchairs so you might have to take care when parking further away from the building. I can't find any info about buses coming up this way; the cafe is situated above Dingwall so I would imagine it would be difficult to access this area without a car.
Access
There was a nice corner inside the cafe which was more accessible for wheelchairs; there was also lots of space in the outdoor seating areas. The entrance door was manual but nice and wide, it was wedged open when I visited. Although it's quite tight inside the gift shop, I still managed to access it. Outside there's lots of seating available; the surface is mostly tarmacked, although there are some gravelled areas; my powerchair managed them all ok.
Toilets
The disabled toilet was very clean, spacious and had grab rails and a red cord in the correct position.
Staff
The staff were really helpful, welcoming and friendly; there was a really nice atmosphere in the cafe.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There were outdoor seating areas and hand sanitisers were available too so I felt reasonably covid confident. I would really recommend this lovely eco cafe which is very cyclist friendly; it has charging points for electric bikes, water bottle refills and pumps for tyres; there's also a charging point for electric cars. I've included a few photos from a previous visit along with the more recent ones. I'd definitely visit again.
