This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair
Excellent, accessible hotel to be based for exploring the west coast of Iceland and experience the Northern Lights. Opened in 2015 the hotel is clean, fresh and modern. Highly recommended.
Transport & Parking
Two disabled parking bays immediately in front of hotel.
Excellent access. Step free access to bedrooms, bathrooms and restaurant. Keycard access to bedrooms. Accessible rooms all have a door that opens out onto the central courtyard (pictured).
Grab rails installed on both sides of loo. Plenty room to manoeuvre. Space under sink for legs/manual wheelchair.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Around 2 hour drive from Reykjavik. 3 hours from Keflavik Airport. The geography of the local area makes the hotel a hotspot for seeing the Northern Lights. Some local roads can be treacherous so a 4 wheel drive is highly recommended. Hotel staff were able to arrange in advance a shower chair with wheels (pictured) for our stay.
