Good

Howwood is a two platform unstaffed station, perfect for quick travel to Glasgow and Paisley via platform 1 and to Ayrshire via platform 2. It has many of the accessibility features you would expect from a modern railway station and is handy for locals heading into the city for the work day or out to the coast.

Disabled Access In and Around

Good

There are rain shelters on both platforms along with a mix of chair and bench style seating. Smartcard readers are on each platform but only platform 1 has a ticket machine. The overhead signage is clear, with dot matrix departure information, and audio announcements let you know about arriving trains as well as any that are passing through without stopping. Assistance meeting points are available on both platforms. Hearing loops are available on both platforms. Each one also has tactile paving at the platform edge. For anyone who can manage them, there are steps down to platform 1 with rails on both sides. The top and bottom steps on each level are painted yellow and there is tactile paving at both the top and bottom of the stairs. If walking or wheeling to the station, please not there is a hill on either side leading up to the main road, there are no lifts between platform.

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

There is a small car park near platform 1 with 30 parking spaces, two of which are accessible. The left bay has hatched markings on both sides, while the right bay only has markings on the left. The right side borders a kerb which is usually clear. From the car park there is a slight incline leading to the dropped kerb. The route to the platform continues down a gentle slope. Slightly further uphill there is a drop off bay. On the side of platform 2 there is no parking, but there is space to drop off. About 160 metres away on Station Road you will find a bus stop.
