Overview
I stayed in this lodge for 4 nights. I was travelling on my own, but had the help of a fantastic guide called Sole from Latin America for all. She wheeled me about in a wheelchair supplied by the company as the distance from the reception/dining area was too far for me to walk. My cabin with wet room was lovely and I went to sleep to the sound of frogs. A number of activities were included so I went on a trek through the rain forest pulled and pushed on an off-road wheelchair. I also went rafting on the Jatun Yatin river thanks to the team from Torrent Duck and visited a Kichwa community and the Kalleri cocoa community. The holiday was booked through Disabled Access Holidays and was the best holiday ever, I did things I would never have thought possible. From the Amazon I went to the Galapagos.
Transport & Parking
I’ve given a low rating for transport because I flew from Heathrow Terminal 5 and the special assistance was so poor that I missed my first flight. On the way back they abandoned me at baggage collection so I had to walk out with my luggage and rollator on a trolley .
Access
The paths round Husquila are steep and some of the turns are very tight. No lift (all 1 level). Signage was fairly basic but ok. No induction loop or alternative formats.
Toilets
All toilets were accessible, no alarm cords.
Staff
Fabulous, couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful.
