These EV chargers are handy for anyone stopping by McDonald’s for whatever seasonal treat is on offer, or for those staying at the nearby Travelodge. Sadly, they fall into the same trap as many other EV chargers, where accessibility doesn’t seem to be much of a focus. If you don’t require a mobility device, or can manage without one for a short while, these might do the trick but as a wheelchair user they're close to impossible for me to use. One positive is that there’s a support arm for the cables – something many other chargers don’t have, and it really helps with managing the weight of the cables

Access to the car park is generally good, with clear marked crossings nearby. It’s worth noting though that the charger bays are down a fairly steep slope, just outside the nearby Travelodge. As mentioned, reaching the charging facilities might be tricky for some, mainly because of how the bays are positioned.

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

There are two EV charging bays in the car park, both a bit bigger than your standard parking space. For once, the machine isn’t hidden behind bollards or perched up on a plinth. That said, one space sits beside a regular parking bay and the other next to a large power box, so you can only fully open a car door on one side in each. The charger has one of my favourite features – support arms. These clever arms hold the weight of the cable, making things much easier for anyone who struggles with heavy charging cables. It supports both CHAdeMO and CCS charging. The card reader’s positioned low, which I really appreciate as a wheelchair user.

Accessible Toilets

There is an accessible toilet and gendered toilets in the nearby McDonald's. I didn't see an accessible toilet within the hotel, other than in the rooms.
