I had a fantastic three night, stay at Irton House farm whilst visiting my relatives in the Lake District. We love this area of the Lake District and have visited many times before. Irton House Farm is a family run farm which includes accessible cottages and a camping and Caravan site. Lindsay and Nic and their family live on the farm and will make you feel welcome. We stayed in a cottage called the Martins which sleeps six people. There are other cottages available on the farm which sleep two and four people. Docs and assistance. dogs but must be kept on lead whilst on the farm.
Disabled Access In and Around
Access around the farm is on the level and mostly tarmac areas which are easy to move around. There is a camping and Caravan site further beyond the accessible cottages. This is not accessible due to the uneven ground. There is a new building called The Shearings. This is a converted barn where you can go and socialise with family, friends and other guests during your stay, I will cover more about this building in a separate review. The Martins which is where we stayed during our visit has an accessible wet floor, shower room and two profiling beds in the downstairs bedroom. There are two bedrooms, upstairs one double and one single these rooms have to ordinary beds. There is also kitchen with a large table, to accommodate six people. We found it helpful to move the table, slightly more towards the window to accommodate my wheelchair as I have a larger power chair, I also found it helpful to take my foot plates off to get underneath the table. There is also a games room on the farm, which is located next to the cottages. This room has a pool table, a table tennis table and a washing machine and tumble drying facilities for when you need them. It is a nice way to pass a wet winters evening playing a game of table, tennis with friends and family.

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
We travelled to Alton house farm by car, as we always have to carry a lot of luggage and extra equipment with us where is car parking available as you enter the farm yard. Electric vehicles are not permitted to be charged on site. You can park your car outside, or nearby your cottage entrance.
Accessible Toilets
Good
Each accessible cottage as it's all accessible toilet and wet floor shower room you can borrow some mobility equipment, such as a shower chair, and a mobile hoist if needed. There are wooden blocks available to raise the height of the bed or the kitchen table if you need them. Just contact Lindsay before your visit to request them if you think you might need them.

Additional Information
There is an outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy the Sunset on a summer night. This area is all paved and has a picnic table available. There our bags of firewood and kindling, which are available to buy on site. If you enjoy spending time with the farm animals, there is an opportunity to hold and cuddle a Swiss Vallais black nose sheep during your stay on the farm please ask for more details about this during your stay,
