Kilbride Campsite is a small site with around 30 pitches, with electric hook-ups available for those with campervans. The site has a café that was closed when we arrived in the evening, as well as washing facilities. It was just what we needed. My stay at Kilbride Campsite was mostly pleasant but there was an issue when I tried to access the accessible toilet that required me to give feedback to the site owner. I just hope he listened so that others can avoid the same problem in future.
Disabled Access In and Around

Singposting is minimal, but it's clear where everything is. I chose to cross the grass with my whelchair when going to the toilet, but the road around is shallow gravel, a bit bumpy but most users of most mobility devices should manage. There are no alternative formats in use.
Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
As a campsite, there is no car park as such, but there is room for around 30 vehicles, whether you have a car and are camping or are travelling in a motorhome.
Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking

I've marked this section as average, primarily due to the challenge I had accessing the accessible toilet. I made my way from our camper, getting to the loo within a few minutes. When I arrived, the door appeared to be locked, so I assumed it was in use. I waited 20 minutes, as it can take time for some folks to use the toilet. I tried the door again and, after a few more minutes had passed, I called the site manager, who explained he'd come to unlock the door. There was no sign explaining who to contact, so I just used the number I had from check-in. He advised he'd be there in 10 minutes. To his credit, it was actually six, but it took me almost half an hour to get into the toilet. He explained the facilities were being abused, which is why it was locked. Whilst I understand the reason, it's exceptionally frustrating and there are those of us who are unable to wait this long. The door had a standard lock, so I suggested that they purchase a RADAR lock, but he was unfamiliar with the RADAR key scheme. I explained that this would enable disabled folks to use the toilet with more ease and save him being called every time someone needed to access the toilet. He seemed receptive to the idea and I hope they'll look into it. The barrier to entry aside... The door to the toilet is lightweight. Once inside, the toilet pan is on the rear wall. There is space for a left-side transfer but the shower chair was placed in this spot. There is poor contrast between the white wall and the white grab rails on either side of the toilet. The flush is on the same side as the transfer space, as it ideally should be. The emergency cord is too long and was hooked around the grab rail, which is frustrating. The sink has a small basin and separate hot and cold taps. The taps do not have lever handles. There is a single rail to the right, but it offers no contrast against the wall. The shower head was low on the rail, which is appreciated, even if the rail is a bit too high. The shower is operated by two lever taps, one to start and stop the flow of water and the other to adjust the heat. There is a shower chair, which has handles on either side and a backrest. It does the job. There is enough space for a wheelchair or powerchair user to move around in the toilet, but not a scooter user. I just wish people could be respectful of accessible toilet facilities, so that we didn't have barriers set before us.

Toilet issue aside, DJ, who operates the site, is friendly and made sure we felt welcome when we arrived.
