This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Mobility Scooter

Overview

We stayed for the weekend. We took my wife’s wheelchair and car boot mobility scooter. Both were fine for moving about the site - both inside and out. A bit more tricky if you wanted to go to the footpath by the adjoining Chichester Harbour.

Transport & Parking

4.5

We drove. We had booked a disabled chalet and there was reserved disabled parking next to it.

Being a holiday village, almost everything was single storey with slopes everywhere both inside and out (though we didn’t go into every public building - eg the leisure complex - so cannot comment on the pool). Outside there were a couple of oversteep slopes and a couple of pavement dead ends, but none in key places. Disabled chalets (with wet rooms, shower seat and plenty of grab rails) would benefit from a grab rail by the front door (to help get over the sill step). We took our own toilet seat raiser, which Was invaluable. Those with eyesight problems might struggle with the menus which used very small print and in parts were printed in black on grey. I am gluten intolerant and we were greeted with a box of gluten free biscuits on arrival, and there was a separate non-gluten menu at every meal - the only lack was of a gf breakfast cereal. The gf brownies were to die for!

Toilets

4.5

We didn’t use, but checked out one of them. It was very spacious with plenty of room for a carer and to turn a wheelchair. Plenty of grab rails. We didn’t check the height of the toilet.

Staff

4.5

Staff were universally friendly and helpful - even allowing us to go against the one-way system in the restaurant (so long as there was no one coming) to make our exit less long and arduous.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Everyone was aware of the need for Covid precautions and everything was well planned. If this (upmarket Butlin’s) style of holiday is yours then people with mobility issues should have no worries about staying - just make sure you discuss your needs when you book.
