Overview
We visited Riga off a cruise and visited the Latvian National Museum of Art, which has an extensive and interesting collection of art from the 18th century to the present, I found the post Soviet and contemporary art the most interesting, quite brutal at times but certainly reflecting the period. The museum is fully accessible in a beautiful building, the accessible entrance available to us on the day we visited was at the rear of the main entrance, you enter and go up one floor, the ticket office is a half level down. The collection is spread over floors 2,3,4 and 5. The fifth floor also has an accessible roof terrace which has a good view. The accessible toilet and cafe are on the 1st floor, with a ramp from the cafe down to the few tables outside near the fountain and the park. This was a lovely and welcoming museum, cost 3 euro. Access from the ship was via a lift to cross a busy road and then by accessible pavements, we didn’t visit any other part of Riga
