    Good

While visiting Berwick-upon-Tweed, I fancied a bit of pub grub. You know the sort, a burger and a variety of deep-fried side items. Whilst not the best food ever, it hit the spot. Access was average but was made better by the helpful staff.

There are two main routes into the pub: a ramp with rails on either side and seven steps with rails on either side and in the centre. The stair nosings are clearly marked with yellow strips. There are manual doors at the entrance. They aren't heavy, but they open outwards, which isn't ideal at the top of the stairs. Once inside, there's plenty of space to move around and no shortage of tables. I ordered my food at the bar, which doesn't have a lowered section, so I had to stretch up from my chair to pay by card. There are no alternative formats in use.

I wheeled my way here, as I didn't see any suitable places to park during my drive around the town. Local bus routes operate on the road outside.

    Accessible Toilets

The pub has an accessible toilet, which can be accessed with a RADAR key. The indicator on the lock is faulty, so it appeared the toilet was in use when it wasn't. The door opens outwards. The toilet is against the rear wall, with unobstructed space for a left-side transfer. There are white rails on either side of the pan, which contrast well against the blue walls. The toilet seat itself doesn't contrast with the pan. The red emergency cord is to the right when seated, but it was tied around the grab rail. I made sure to untie it. The sink has a lever-style tap, a small basin and white rails on either side. The toilet is spacious and could accommodate a powerchair user and another person if required. A baby change is mounted on the right-hand wall.
