Overview

My son-in-law treated me to an afternoon (2pm) tour. We were about a dozen in total. The history goes back centuries and explains the skills monks brought to the area. I walk very slowly with a stick, but the group waited for me to arrive (connecting roads were flooded that day, so we took a back road advised by distillery staff to get there). Blue badge parking has spaces closest to the visitor entrance. I was offered a choice of lift or wide stairs with a handrail and I chose (and prefer) the latter. Our guide, Helen, was very good at setting a sensible pace throughout. We enjoyed a taste of both aqua vitae and a single malt. A good hour in good company, and all for £12.50.

Staff

Not just our tour guide, but staff in their visitor shop and a friendly dog. The distillery also has two quite famous (on social media) cats, but we didn’t meet them. They tend to be more active at night time.
